I wanted to create a new painting that challenged both my skills and my artistic temperament and this piece sure did both- in this painting that I call "Eyes Wide Shut" I have a pride of lions- the "dad" is sleeping while the "mom" is walking away as the cubs look on to a roaring fire engulfing the Serengeti- this is an example of what's going on in our world right now- how so many adults are either refusing to believe global warming is taking place which is engulfing and destroying certain parts of our ecosystem and how some adults DO realize it's happening but still turn a blind eye to it to make things easier on themselves but our youth- our children are very much aware of it and know what will happen if we don't change course.
